Kale leaves that are cut into bite size pieces and lightly brushed with olive oil. They are tossed into an air fryer, cooked until they are extra crispy and then lightly salted! Serve as a nutritious snack or as a side dish!

Kale Chips Ingredients
There are only a few ingredients that you’ll actually need to make these kale chips. Some of the ingredients are:
▪ Kale – I like to us Tuscan kale (aka Lacinto kale) because it has a really pleasant flavor. If you can’t find Tuscan kale you can use curly kale, it’s the most common. Curly kale has peppery flavor and is a little bitter. If you want a more mild flavor look for younger kale, the leaves are smaller and lighter colored.
▪ Olive Oil – I like to use extra virgin olive oil because it has a rich, fragrant flavor that works well with this recipe.
How to Cook Kale in the Air Fryer
Once the kale is cleaned, dried and cut into 2-inch pieces, you’re almost ready to make them into chips.
- Preheat air fryer to 380°F for 2-3 minutes.
- In a large bowl, toss the kale in the olive oil and salt, making sure that the leaves are well coated, but not saturated.
- Place half of the kale into the air fryer, cook at 380°F for 5 minutes, shaking the basket every minute or so. Adjust seasoning to taste.
Variations to the Recipe
Try experimenting with different oils and spices for a variety of flavors. Some of the different oils you can try would be sesame oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, it really just depends on the flavor you are trying to achieve. Some spices that you might want to try, cayenne, ranch seasoning, paprika, chili powder, garlic the combinations of flavors are endless.
Serving Suggestions
When you are feeling a little hungry they make a really delicious and healthy snack. They also make a great side dish to serve along side hamburgers, meatball subs and sloppy Joes’.
Storage Instructions
I would suggest making what you need because they tend to lose their crispiness when stored.

Tips
✔ For crispy chips, make sure that the kale is completely dry before tossing it in the oil and salt. The best way to quickly dry the kale is by using a salad spinner and then patting the kale dry with a paper towel.
✔ As the kale cooks it will become lightweight and begin blowing around, place the wire rack that came with your air fryer or a piece of aluminum foil over the kale to avoid this.
✔ If there are any pieces that you think are not crisp enough, just place them back into the for a minute or two. It will cook very quickly so keep an eye on it.

I love to make kale chips, not to eat but just to have on hand to drop in my green smoothies. So often I buy too much or think I’m going to get to it and you know it doesn’t last long! It would be so much quicker to do in an air fryer!
