Classic Chinese Orange Chicken. This simple recipe is made with batter fried chicken coated with a sweet and tangy caramelized glaze. Serve over rice, top with sesame seeds and green onions for a classic takeout favorite.
Well, we’ve been snowed in for the last couple days, the kids are lovin’ it, however I’m going a little stir crazy. I heard that we were in for a big storm but seeing how we’re fairly new to this part of the country I didn’t realize what that really meant. Next time there’s a big storm on its way I’ll be sure to do a little preparing just in case were indoors for a few days.
Do you know what the worst part about being snowed in is, when you have a craving and you can’t leave the house to get what you want. Yesterday I had a craving for Chinese food and the more I tried not to think about it the more I wanted it. Thankfully I keep a pretty well stocked pantry so I was able to throw together something to satisfy my craving.
I don’t know about you but when it comes to Chinese food I prefer savory, where as my kids like dishes that are on the sweeter side. Fortunately for them I had everything I needed to make orange chicken, which happens to be one their favorites.

Simple Orange Chicken Recipe
In a small saucepan, over medium-low, combine BBQ sauce, orange marmalade, soy sauce, garlic and ginger. Simmer for 15 minutes. If you are serving the chicken with rice, now would be a good time to start it.
Heat the oil in a fry pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, dip the chicken into the beaten eggs.
Then working one at a time, dredge the chicken in cornstarch, pressing to coat.
Gently place the chicken in the hot oil, working in batches, fry until the chicken is golden brown. Drain on paper towel.
Toss the chicken with orange marinade. Serve over rice and top with green onions and sesame seed.
