Refried beans are the mashed potatoes of Mexican meals. They are incredibly easy to make and are the perfect side dish for most Mexican meals.
It’s the funniest thing to see the look on peoples face whenever I say “cook it from scratch”, eyes begin rolling and lips start twisting up, but if you’re wanting to cut your grocery bill this is one of the best ways to do it.
Besides it being a great way to save money, it’s a lot healthier for you. You are the one who is in control of what does or doesn’t go into it.
So, if you’ve never cooked from scratch this is the perfect place to start. It’s super easy to do, will only take a couple of minutes and the best part is that it tastes so much better then canned versions that you buy.
To make it even easier, try using canned pinto beans. Once you’re comfortable making refried beans (from scratch) you can try your hand at making pinto beans from scratch, which is also really easy to do.
