This beach party pudding is the perfect kid friendly recipe. It’s super easy to make, there’s no baking, and it’s really cute. The kids have just as much fun making it as they do eating it.
From the time my kids were able to stand they have been in the kitchen, it makes the best classroom! Through cooking they have learned so much about life. It has taught them about mathematics, history, God, good eating habits, good hygiene, how to work together, how to follow directions, independence, and the list goes on. There’s a lot that can be learned from a simple recipe!
I’m proud to say that all of my kids have a passion for food, especially my oldest, who is studying culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco and working at Mulvaney’s B&L. The only downside to him being on the west coast is that he took my glamdaughter with him. I really miss having my little bug in the kitchen with me, teaching her about life through food. I know her daddy has her cook with him when he’s not busy, but I’m really missing that time with her.
I recently decided that I’m not going to let the miles that separate us get in the way. The first thing I did was buy her an Easy-Bake Oven, which she can use when she wants to get creative. Then I decided I wanted to do something that was a little more personal, something shared between me and her. Every couple of weeks I send her a “Grandma’s Goodies” package, which contains a little money, a shopping list, and a kid friendly recipe.
She loves receiving “Grandma’s Goodies” because she knows that it’s time to cook with grandma (using video), go shopping, and make something that everyone will ooh and aah over. I love that I still can play a part in teaching her about life through food.
