Welcome to Day 5 of the Home Organization Challenge! Are you Ready for Anything? Good, then let’s just jump in and get started on today’s challenge. If you are just now joining us, head over to the Day 1 challenge and start there, we’ll wait for you to catch up.
Today’s Challenges:
- Make Things Happen (bed)
- Piles Away (laundry)
- Ready for Anything (get ready)
- 20/20 (de-cluttering)
Bathrooms are a breeding ground for germs and bacteria, which can cause a number of different illnesses. Statistics show that most people visit the bathroom an average of six times per day and this doesn’t include any trips for taking showers or getting ready.
We currently have 7 people living in our home and based on that statistic, that means that my toilets and sinks are being used 42 times per day. Sounds like a lot doesn’t it? Before I started the Organization Challenge I thought that I was doing a pretty good job keeping my bathrooms clean. I would clean them top to bottom once a week. However, if you think about that mathematically, that means that my toilets and sinks were being used 294 times before being cleaned, that makes it sound disgusting!
I was in desperate need of a bathroom fairy. One who could come in, wave a magic wand and all of the germs and bacteria from the day would disappear. Unfortunately, I live in the real world where there are no bathroom fairies, so I had to create my own.
What will I need?
Magic Wand (toilet brush)
Fairy Dust (cleaner/disinfectant)
Enchanted Cloth (cleaning rag)
When should I clean?
In the morning after everyone is Ready for Anything
How often should I clean?
Daily
How do I clean?
- Spray the sink and toilet bowl with Fairy Dust.
- Give the bowl a couple of swishes with your Magic Wand.
- Wipe the sink with your Enchanted Cloth.
- Wipe the flush handle, toilet seat, toilet base and the floor around the toilet with the Enchanted Cloth.
- Empty the garbage.
- Shake the rugs.
- Change the hand towels.
Benefits to cleaning the bathroom daily:
- Your bathroom will look clean
- Your bathroom will smell clean
- Germs and bacteria are kept to a minium
- Less likely to get sick.
For the Kiddos:
Have the kids be responsible for emptying the garbage, shaking the rugs and replacing the hand towels.
