Schools out for Summer!!
This means sleeping in, staying up late, binge watching Netflix, and hours of gaming. Tell me, what kid doesn’t think this when that last bell rings.
I’m going to let my little MIT’s (men in training) hold on to this fantasy for a couple of days, they’ve earned it! However, despite what they think, summer will NOT be spent, sitting on their bums absorbing gamma rays. They are going to be outside running around absorbing sun rays.
To get them outdoors, and eventually asking to go, I’ve put together a full calendar of outdoor activities. Here are just a few of the things that we have planned.
Squirt Gun Painting from Fireflies & Mud Pies
Water Balloon Baseball from Overstuffed
Sidewalk Foam Paint from The Tiptoe Fairy
Sunshine Shadow Tracing from Premeditated Leftovers
DIY Slip and Slide from The Relaxed Homeschool
Backyard Movie Night from Ellie Petrov
Lawn Checkers from Hallmark Home & Family
Yard Yahtzee from The Pinning Mama
Paint Bombs from Craftulate
Feet Painting from Homegrown Friends
DIY Sprinkler Relay from Lil’ Luna
Marshmallow Shooters from Happiness is Homemade
S’mores on a Solar Oven from I Can Teach My Child
Driveway Shape Maze from Creative Family Fun
Pool Noodle Obstacle Course from Parents
Splat Balls from Paging Fun Moms
PVC Water Shooter from Frugal Fun for Boys & Girls
DIY Sprinkler from Housing a Forest
Pool Noodle Ring Toss from The Joys of Boys
Bubble Wrap Stomp Painting from Mess for Less
I’m really looking forward to all of the outdoor activities that are planned, eventually, the MIT’s will too. For better or for worse this is going to be a summer they will never forget. It may be remembered as the year that mom kept them away from video games, but they won’t forget it.
What do you have planned to get your kids outdoors and away from the electronics?
