Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven: Heat your oven to 350°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease it lightly.
  • Cream Butter and Sugars: In a big bowl, mix softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until it's fluffy.
  • Add Eggs, Molasses, and Vanilla: Beat in eggs one by one until well mixed. Then, add molasses and vanilla, and mix well.
  • Combine Dry Ingredients: In another bowl, mix together flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt.
  • Mix Wet and Dry Ingredients: Slowly add the dry mix to the wet mix, stirring until a dough forms. Don't overmix!
  • Fold in Chocolate Chips: Gently stir in semisweet chocolate chips until they're spread evenly throughout the dough.
  • Form Cookie Dough Balls: Use a spoon or cookie scoop to shape dough into balls (about 1 to 1.5 tablespoons). Place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  • Bake the Cookies: Put the baking sheet in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden but the centers are soft. Keep an eye on them!
  • Cool and Enjoy: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a bit before moving them to a cooling rack to cool completely.
