This week we are working in Realm 3 (Living Room, Entryways
& Porches) so let’s look at a cleaning tip for the living room, cleaning
the window tracks. Do you have “Clean Window Tracks” on your Realm 3 master
cleaning list? Probably not, this is one of those areas in our home that we
tend to overlook.

Cleaning window tracks is fairly easy, especially if you
have a routine for doing it. My routine for cleaning window tracks is once
every three months (quarterly). I find that by cleaning my tracks more often my
windows operate more smoothly and I don’t have to put as much time or effort
into cleaning them.

If you haven’t cleaned your window tracks in a while (or
ever) here are a few tips to make the job a little easier.

-
- Open
the windows and remove the screens. - Use
the hose attachment on your vacuum to suck up any loose dirt and dust. - Wipe
the tracks with a little soapy water and a wet cloth. For those hard to
reach corners, try using a Q-tip or a Poly Foam Brush dipped in the same soapy water.

- If you
are having a difficult time removing the stuck on dirt try using a Window Track Cleaning Brush. Then wipe clean with a clean cloth.
This might be a little difficult if this is your first time
to clean them or you haven’t done it in a while. To make it easier, add it to
your master cleaning list and be sure to tackle it every few months, then you
will only need to wipe them down with a wet, soapy cloth.
