Recipe type: Sauce
This simple blueberry sauce recipe can be made in less than 10 minutes, using fresh blueberries. Serve it with your favorite dessert or try it on a savory dish, like pork sandwiches. Just make sure you've made a lot, because it goes fast.
  • 1½ cups blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ¼ teaspoon lemon juice
  • ½ cup water, plus 2 tablespoons
  1. In a small bowl, mix together the cornstarch and a 2 tablespoons of water, set aside.
  2. Place 1 cup blueberries into a small saucepan, add water, sugar and lemon juice. Heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil and blueberries begin to burst.
  3. Stir in the dissolved cornstarch and bring to a rolling boil. Lower the heat, add remaining blueberries and simmer until the sauce reaches the desired consistency. Remove from heat and serve.
